Lemonade, Phoenician walls, and the bars on Old Souk
Forty-five minutes north of Beirut, Batroun has spent the last decade quietly becoming the country's most successful coastal reinvention. The Old Souk's sandstone arches, once shuttered, now hold wine bars, bookshops, and a tattoo studio that takes appointments by Instagram only.
Friday evening: Drinks at Anise on the harbor, then dinner at Chez Maguy, where the catch is whatever the boat brought in. Saturday: Coffee at the Phoenician Wall, swim at Pierre & Friends, lemonade from the legendary Hilmi stand. Sunday: Brunch at the citrus-shaded courtyard of Bahsa, drive home before traffic.
