South of Tyre stretches the country’s most generous public beach: kilometres of pale sand, gentle waves, and a protected nature reserve at the southern end where loggerhead turtles nest. The beach is free, the water is shallow, and a five-minute walk back into town drops you into one of the Mediterranean’s great archaeological sites.
