Sporting is the soul of Beirut’s seaside. Cut into the rocks below Manara since the 1960s, it is the pool where generations of Beirutis learned to swim, sunbathe, drink Almaza and judge each other’s diving form. Concrete sun decks, a cliffside swim ladder, the Pigeon Rocks just to the south — there is nothing else like it in the city.
